Reception New Starters 2021

Welcome Reception New Starters 2021 !

A very warm welcome to Great Moor Infant School.  We can’t wait to meet you all.  We have created videos and documents to help you during your transition into Reception. Click on the links to open the appropriate videos/documents.

A warm welcome video from Yvonne Dobson, the Headteacher ~ to the Parents/Carers & the children.

Have a look through our transition booklet.  This is a child friendly booklet for you to read together.  You can see some of the areas in school and find a bit about the day and what we do: Getting Ready for Reception.

Enjoy a short tour around the Reception classrooms: Tour video.

The first half term will be about your child settling in, feeling secure, happy and confident in school.  We will be spending time getting to know your child’s interests and ways they like to learn.  You can help by watching the videos and starting to talk about school life….the teachers and the space you can see in the short videos.

Over the Summer, before you start school, would you like to make a picture collage of pictures of you and your family and your favourite things ~ your pet if you have one, your favourite colour, animal, food, game, TV programme…..? NB. Please could this be no larger than A3 size. Many thanks. We will display these on the wall!

Storytime !
Meet the teachers in Reception and enjoy a story (click on the title to hear the story) ….You will have received a card in the post. If you have a blue card, you will be in blue group.  A red card means you will be in red group and a yellow card means you are in yellow group.  Please watch the video for your group but also feel free to watch all the teachers because as a unit we work together.
