Ofsted Report

Great Moor Infants is a "Good" school

As you know, Ofsted inspected our school at the end of January 2024. The inspectors have now sent us their report, which is available to download below.

We are very pleased that Ofsted have recognised the improvements that have been made since the last inspection and have upgraded our overall rating from "Requires Improvement" to "Good". The inspectors found that we were "Good" in all areas. The inspectors' report will also help us make Great Moor Infant School an even better school as we now continue on our journey to outstanding.

We are pleased that the inspectors acknowledge that our children "achieve well due to an improved curriculum and the school’s high expectations for their academic success". The inspectors have told us that our staff "make the school a happy and safe place to be" and our pupils "enjoy coming to school". Inspectors recognise that our school is a "harmonious environment".

Inspectors recognised the many strengths of our school. They have told us that "pupils benefit from positive, nurturing relationships with staff". They have told us that they "behave well in and around the school" and are "keen to learn". We are pleased that they recognised that "the school has designed a curriculum that inspires its pupils to learn well".

We are pleased that the inspectors were able to see that "the school identifies the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities quickly". Our work on the reading curriculum has been recognised as a strength of the school and that "highly trained staff teach the phonics programme well".

The Ofsted report provides us with a clear direction to build on our strengths and address the actions recommended by the inspectors. We will get straight to work on these actions.

Since our previous inspection in 2021, the staff and governors have worked tirelessly to make the improvements needed to make Great Moor Infant School a good school. With the support of you, our parents/carers and our whole school community, we are pleased that we have achieved this.

Your children go to a good school and you have all played a key part in helping us to get there. With your continued support, we will now get on with the task of making Great Moor Infant School even better.

Kindest wishes

Yvonne Dobson – Headteacher Steven Hurst – Chair of Governors
